My oldest son can't do MSG so when we eat Chinese it is usually modified and disappointing, but with him out of town I took the rest of the family to the Wei Buffet. Many buffets have the feel of a pig's slop bucket but not this place. It was great, lots of variety, everything laid out nicely, and lots of flavor. Plenty of seafood, dim sum, sushi and all your standard Chinese takeout favorites. It goes without saying that I did the standard overeating that goes along with the challenge of all-you-can-eat, but it was worth it.
(disclaimer - I am comparing this place to other Chinese Buffets, not a high end restaurant) -

This Wei is still little better than the one in grapevine, but definitely not as good as when it first opened.
Been here several times and just last night again. The update is simply to clean up the place. Our table was sticky, the bathroom fixtures and everything makes it look like it's old and poorly constructed.....ok, I know we don't come here for the bathroom.
So the food, I would say it's still a notch better than the typical Asian buffet, but it's just barely one notch now. Many of the food have been sitting so it's just cold, like eating leftovers.
Favorite was soybean milk. Yep, that was it. Everything else was just ok as nothing stands out -

Came in with family for lunch on a weekday. An hour before dinner time.
-Literally half the food selection was mislabeled or unlabeled. Why?..
- Most of the buffet pans were half stocked with old and dry food, with only a few being refilled within an hour of being there.
-I don't remember the last time I literally spit food out and had to wash the putrid flavor out of my mouth. This happened here twice with the fried chicken and crab.
-When I went to the front to pay for our meal, the server handed us the bill charging us their dinner price. When I told them that we were charged wrongly, the server scoffed and smirked at their coworker nearby and proceeded to hand us the correct bill.
Overall, food was trash tier and I didn't appreciate their futile attempt to swindle me. Save your hard earned money and walk literally down the street to any other establishment in the area for better food and service at a cheaper price. -

I've reviewed the other Wei branch that opened after this one in Grapevine, and I have to say that the other one is a much better option than Carrollton.
This establishment is located behind the Daiso store in a strip mall filled with restaurants, so great location.
The interior I have to say was better than their Grapevine place - it was bright, with a modern interior.
The let down was the food, which was the most important aspect.
They have a sushi bar with an employee making fresh rolls, and this was the only item I could stomach here.
The rest of the food was bland, oily and were not replenished fast enough. There also seemed to be a dearth of options compared to their Grapevine branch.
There were specific stations (labelled) for different varieties of food like stir fry, soup, dim sum etc. but at least when I was in for lunch, they weren't placed in their corresponding station which was confusing.
I tried a variety of dishes including cold salads (octopus, broccoli), stir fried beef and chicken, pork belly, fried rice, lo mein, butter shrimp, roasted chicken and wok done beans.
The dessert options were just as lacking in the other branch, but a tad better (I liked the mango sheet cake).
Not for me, I'm afraid. -

Skip this place, very cold chicken, very greasy noodles and unappetizing burnt pizza. (No idea why they were serving pizza) The only plus was the tv screen, so that's why I gave it one star. Everything you never wanted from a Chinese buffet is found here. Not worth the drive nor the calories.
